…that refuses to defend its borders?

Remember this?
Last year, at third world county, I posted about my disgust with such disrespect for the American flag and the flying of the Mexican flag on American soil in superior position to the American flag… by people who are being freely “taught” in American schools but who lend their allegiance to the flag of another land. In that post, I showed pictures of the Mexican flag rudely disrespected with the argument that such disrespect was the proper display of such a flag on American soil.
Imagine the response… po’ widdle babies couldn’t take what they so freely dish out.
Oh, I didn’t mind the comments stating outright (falsely) that I am a “hater” a “racist” because I gave tit for tat, simply handing back on a virtual platter a mild form of the disrespect shown on our own soil by those who should go home, if that’s where their allegiance lies.
After all, I expected no less from people who support the unlawful invasion of another country, who support as just, right and good the idea that committing felonies left and right (identity theft, forging of dcuments in order to commit further crimes, etc.) is a positive good, that disrespect of the flag of a land they live in and whose society feeds and clothes and otherwise cares for them in a way their own does not is right and proper, etc.
No, I expected that. But what continues to exasperate me is that all too many of our congresscritters and our president continue to seek to surrender our country to those who say, as one commenter on that post said,
Abajo la bandera de estados unidos!!!!!!!!
(“Down with the flag of the United States”–except, of course, the commenter refused to even give the minimal respect of capitalizing the name of this country in spanish. *heh*)
It seems I recall someone wiser than our current government officials and functionaries saying something different to their “oppress those who would enforce our borders” attitude.

No one, NO ONE who invades our country, illegally, immorally, unethically jumping line ahead of those righteous immigrants who patiently wait in line to enter legally can possibly, ever, under ANY circumstance meet that bare minimum qualification wisely noted by George Washington: “decency and propriety of conduct”.
That our congresscritters seek to subvert any enforcement of our borders (link to “Turban” Durban’s bill that has bi-partisan support–just one example of many efforts) with attempts to give amnesty to hordes of invaders and President Bush promises amnesty to Mexico for Mexican invaders are “small” signs that our nation’s leadership has decided to sink the boat.
Listen again to another blast from the past that shows greater wisdom–heck, my son’s dogs show greater wisdom in dealing with invaders!–than our elected leaders today:

That our elected leadership cannot (or more probably will not, as a matter of short-sighted greed) hold onto the simple core idea that a country that will not defend its borders is doomed to fall is chilling.
Do NOT accept the lies that the invaders are only here “doing jobs Americans won’t do” or that most of them are good citizen material (what part of “illegal alien” do such argumkents ignore, hmmm?). Don’t accept the idea that legalizing rape is the way to stop rapists. Well, that’s the same argument as those who say granting amnesty to those who violate U.S. soveriegnty is the way to stop an alien invasion. Explore options for influencing your congresscritters, such as calling, writing and faxing their offices, using resouurces such as NumbersUSA or even joining the Guard the Borders Blogburst. Your children’s children will thank you.

Without any jesting, I really am for a fence that travels every mile needing protection. I don’t think this idea is undoable or unreasonable. I also don’t think it makes America look unfriendly. It’s just a necessity.

Uhm, that’s “congresscritters” Maggie. 🙂 (I know, your comment probably got half eaten by a keyboard buffer over/under/around the barn run :-)). Thanks for the comment. Indeed, a fence (and HEAVILY beefed up Coast Guard AND Navy) to cover ALL borders would be the proper response of congresscritters and an administration that intended to fulfill their constitutional duties of office.
And enforcing the laws already on the books would shut down the jobs for illegals and thus encourage them to make a rational choice to wend their way home to actually DO something about improving the situation in a country that is richer in natural resources (per capita) than the U.S. and poor only because its people allow the ricos to farm the country’s social and political problems off on a more productive land.
Of course that would only work if the politicians also required enforcement of social services to be provided ONLY to American citizens and LEGAL residents AND levied severe penalties (already available on the books) for identity theft and forging official federal and state documents.
If politicians looked beyond their own short-sighted greed and had the balls to do those things, we’d HAVE NO serious illegal alien invasion.
But notice the “comment” by the illiterate boob (the anonymous coward signing him/her/itself as “MEXICAN” and with a fake email address, at that) who failed to read and/or understand one single solitary word of my post, and whose comment proves them to be either a completely illiterate (and ignorant of historical and seemingly any other fact) idiot or a liar… or both.
Completely typical of all that ilk who have commented on these posts in recent weeks. Note that he/she/it claims he/she/it “WUZ BORN IN CALI”. *heh* What?!? Cali, Columbia? Of course, the illiterate boob might mean CA (the correct, and shorter, abbreviation for California), but what of that? Being born there doesn’t mean jack unless he/she/it was born there of parents who were at the time American citizens, if nearly 200 years of legal precedent still meant anything…
The humane thing to do: No fence needed other than to simplify marking the border. Set up machine gun nests every 300-500 yards along the entire border (depending on specific terrain) & man ’em 24-7. Also set trip wires & flares 100 feet inside our border.
When the invaders are spoted at that arbitrary 100′ point open fire. In the AM after sunrise, use a bull dozer with a big scoop and long arms to load the bodies, drive as close to the border as possible without crossing into Mexico, reach over the border and dump the bodies on their side for them to take care of burial.
Dare Mexico to attempt to use its piss ant Army for invasion purposes. Wipe ’em out if they do cross, as has been reported recently.
Me thinks after a very few short days/nights the problem would be solved. Of course the Border Patrol still needs to “burn” the coyotes who are smuggling people by boat or truck.

That problem is easy to solve. Cut welfare by arbitrarily 75-90%. After 2 years get rid of it completely. When the welfare slugs begin to get hungry, they may become more willing to do some of those jobs. Let the churches, synagogues, & local charities handle welfare. Guvmint got no business in welfare!
For the immigrants who want to come here to live & assimilate, continue to welcome them, when they come through the “front door” — LEGALLY!

I can live with your ROE, but what do you favor as the “machine gun” to equip the border posts with? Would one of these do? Or would you specify something more along these lines?
For fixed positions, the second option (“Ma Deuce”) would seem to be more appropriate, although the cleanup would be a bit messier.
I still think a double fence would be a good thing. Run a cheetah breeding program within its confines…

To a certain point, I agree with Hugh but, as you say, just stick to our laws and we wouldn’t have the problem – wouldn’t have had the problem in the first place. This country just can’t seem to do that, especially when illegal voters are needed.

Maggie, I can see the jaguar solution, up to a point (I had a high school Spanish teacher–former CIA in in a still undisclosed Latin American country, the rumor went :-)– 40-*mumble* years ago who kept an ocelot in her walled courtyard that served as a very effective burglar deterrent), but jags are climbers, while cheetahs are not. And cheetahs actually like to run down prey. I don’t imagine “Speedy Gonzales” would giver them much trouble… *heh*
Yeh, if our current laws against identity theft, forgery, hiring of illegals and such were enforced even-handedly, the invading hordes would wend their way somewhere more congenial. Canada, perhaps. (Now, why does that bring a smile to my face?)
BTW, “nuclear family”–yeh I know whaty you mean & am on board, but I keep hearing the theme song for “Katie Kaboom” (from The Animaniacs) :-).
