Made Me Laugh. Stop It.

“‘I’ll Clean Trump’s Clock’ – Author Brad Thor Announces He Will Challenge Trump in 2020”

Urm, not if he politics as poorly as he writes. (His writing’s about on a par with Dan #gagamaggot Brown, IMO. OK, maybe a little better. Currently, there is no worse “bestselling” writer than Dan Brown. I found Thor’s stuff merely pedestrian and boringly predictable. Tastes vary, though.)

Thor’s stuff is good enough for made-for-Lifetime “C” movies, though. That’s better than Dan Brown’s stuff which is just stupid.

On second thought. . . There were plenty of stupid people around to vote for both The Trumpery and The Queenie Cacklepants Cylon in 2016, and it takes a certain kind of stupidity to find Thor’s books at all readable, so. . .

*sigh*

Someone, please save us from the ambitions of mediocre writers and conmen and corrupt pols. #gagamaggot

  1. Authors, pundits, celebrities, politicians, and prominent religious “leaders” have all been disappointing lately. Book recommendations I’ve followed up on turn out to be unreadable garbage.

This isn’t even surprising anymore. I think it’s just a symptom of mankind’s ancient problem. We all think more of ourselves than we ought to. Some of us even get paid for it.

The famous ones get more attention and adulation, which just seems to feed the cycle until the pyramid collapses, because we’re all flawed. I wonder sometimes just how far down the trail I’ve gone myself.

    1. Materially, folks worldwide are generally better off than at any time since Adam was a pup, but mankind’s nature is still the same.

What bothers me about our society is how quickly and how far we have digressed toward (formal) illiteracy as a society–and toward a disregard for the value of formal literacy and an avid embracing of subliterate twaddle (like that excreted by such as Dan brown and Brad Thor and all their ilk of “best selling” writers for the formally illiterate, uninformed, misinfrmed, disinformed and disinterested in sound information based in some sort of at least minimal respect for real reality *heh*).

what we are left with is Ortega’s mass-man dictating the terms of social norms and validation of third world county™’s corollary to Santayana’s axiom:

“In a democracy (‘rule by mob’)–or in Ortega’s model, a democratic society–those who refuse to learn from history will be the majority and will dictate that everyone else suffer for their ignorance.”
