Las Mordidas?

Yesterday, Jerry Pournelle suggested:

“Would it not be cheaper to pay the Mexican government say, $10 billion a year, on the provision that they close the border from their side? If many get through to the US we reduce the bribe.”

I’ve excerpted just a small portion of Dr. Pournelle’s comments, and there are more from his readers in the Mail section of Chaos Manor Musings. But the idea cited above could be a useful tool in reducing the alien invasion from Mexico, I think. “Las Mordidas” is the social lubricant that gets things done there. Only a couple of problems as the proposal was stated:

  1. Remitance monies (also mentioned by you in the same “View” comment) amount to something over $20 billion a year pumped into the Mexican economy, now. Perhaps the first or second largest single element of its economy. The bribe needs to be bigger.
  2. In order to work, the bribe needs to be highly targeted. The “ricos” kakistocracy must be targeted to recieve the money, or it won’t be an effective bribe.

In the long run, would it not be cheaper to simply annex Mexico? Instead of moving the U.S. border to San Francisco-Kansas City-D.C., as Scott Ott at Scrappleface “predicted” the President’s speech would propose, move it south to Guatemala/Belize. Maybe the Texas national Guard could be tasked with that little adventure… *heh* Well, if such a pipe dream ever materialized, it would at least have the virtue of (hopefully) moving the robber barons off that pot of gold the beggars once sat on.

*sigh*

Oh, and while we’re at it, let’s close the back door on all the Muslim extremist groups populating Canada. Annex Canada next? *heh*

Oh, a lil note I’m considering adding to most of my posts as a reminder to call, write, fax and email the administration and your congresscritters, your governor and as many other public officials as you can about the alien invasion (and the fax I suggested a couple of days ago that you send :-)):

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Folks, it is not only your undeniable right to petition the government for a redress of grievances, it is your responsibility to yourself, your children and grandchildren and your fellow citizens to do so whenever OUR unresponsive kakistocracy is steering the ship of state onto the rocks.

How the Senate Wants to “Fix” Social Security

The U.S. Senate wants to fix both Social Security and illegal immigration in a “comprehensive” approach. Kinda like “fixing” a bull (by making a steer of him).

The Senate voted yesterday to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment — even if the job was obtained through forged or stolen documents.

?!?!?

“There was a felony they were committing, and now they can’t be prosecuted. That sounds like amnesty to me,” said Sen. John Ensign, the Nevada Republican who offered the amendment yesterday to strip out those provisions of the immigration reform bill. “It just boggles the mind how people could be against this amendment.”

The Ensign amendment was defeated on a 50-49 vote.

Necktie party. 50 ropes. 50 trees. 50 senators. Some assembly required.

Meeting behind Zeb’s place to plan the weenie roast and tea party to follow close after…

Mending the Melting Pot-1

Once again, Jerry Pournelle offers sage advice. The proposal he mo8unts in yesterday’s Chaos Manor Musings/View isn’t the end-all, be-all of border security, but it is a sensible “middle way” that any rational person can at least discuss:

We all know how to control the borders. Just Do It. Allocate $1 million/mile/year to be paid to the local county sheriff for use in border control. Add $10 million/year for each border city. Now levy a $1000 fine (not ruinous, but discouraging) for employing an illegal immigrant for more than five days, and pay half of that to whomever turned in the employer to the local sheriff. The other half goes to the sheriff’s office. Add a Federal bonus for each sheriff, interior or border, say $1000 per illegal immigrant apprehended and delivered to the Federal authorities. Local sheriffs who don’t want to catch immigrants just for being immigrants will at least have a way to deal with crime coming to their attention. The whole thing won’t cost $20 billion a year, far less than the savings in social service. The result will be that apprehension of those currently here will be adjusted to local sentiments — counties where no one much cares will not have vigorous enforcement, but will have a way to cut down on criminal and gang activities; the borders will be closed effectively; citizens hiring someone at the local Home Depot won’t face the fines; and the attractiveness of crossing the border will diminish.

Now, here’s the crux of the issue: because proposals like Dr. Pournelle’s make good sense, are affordable and don’t cause undue hardship on citizens or cause the growth of another huge federal power grab, our Masters Will Not Allow this proposal to gain any traction in Washington D.C. or in any other venue controlled by the Mass Media Podpeople Hivemind.

I’d be much happier with far, far more stringent punishment of those who employ illegals. And I’d like to see the U.S. build walls on ALL land borders, task the Navy to serious patrol duty on our water borders and other armed forces as appropriate to guard air access. (And I’ll be happy to shoot down any subliterate/disingenuous discussions about posee comitatus preventing military protection of our borders).

But I could compromise with sensible alternatives such as Dr. Pournelle outlines.

And if poll numbers mean anything, most Americans (by a majority approaching 70% in general and a sizeable percentage even among Latinos!) would be happy with sensible alternatives like the ideas quoted above.

What I will never accept is the betrayal of the American people by Vicente Fox’s Lapdog and Senator Joh n “Snake” McCain and his cohorts in crime among D.C. political poltroons and media whores.

Fav Crockpot Recipe-Potroast

Carnival of the Recipes email notification this week: a request for fav crockpot recipes.

*whew!* What a relief. I’m glad it wasn’t a request for fav Mexican food, cos I’ve had enough South of the Border Gas this week to last me a while, after Vicente Fox’s Lapdog gave that speech Monday night…

(Deep breath. Calming down now.)

OK, fav crockpot recipe: easy-peasy.

Get up in the a.m. Dump a pot roast in a crockpot.

Salt n pepper it. (Use coarse Kosher salt and grind the pepper freshly.)

Add fav veggies. I like to pack the space tight with onion wedges, carrots (whole or chopped in LARGE pieces), chopped celery and potatoes, whole small potatoes or large chunks–maybe 1/2-potato to 1/4-potato pieces. Add maybe a cuppa water (all the juices will make plenty of “gravy”).

Cook on high for an hour, then turn it to low and bug out for the day.

Come home and—Bada-bing!—treat yourself.

If you really need to, take a hand mixer and vigorously whisk a lil arrowroot or cornstarch in some of the hot juices to thicken some gravy.

RAPA: Blogger Fishing/Weekend Open Post

Yeh, this is my Open Trackbacks Alliance Weekend Open Post. Link to this post and track back. More below the post.

“RAPA”=random act of personal amusement.

I caught this lil thing from reading The Random Yak‘s [caught & released—and I hadn’t even chummed the water yet… ] RSS feed (since comments are not yet enabled there, it makes commenting via email easy. besides, I read a majority of blogs that way, anyway, cos it’s just a faster way to scan through the meat of their posts). The Platypus Society devised a diabolical bait for Blogger Fishing: Links. Here, let’s let TPS explain the bait and hook plan:

For bait, I plan on using something that most bloggers find irresistible: Links. Bloggers are notorious for their compulsive habit of checking their hitcounter, Technorati ranking, or TTLB ranking to keep track of any new visits or links to their site. Below I have set the bait by posting links to a number of bloggers and have clicked on each one to help stir up the chum in the water. Feel free to click on the links below and visit these fine bloggers and help stir up the blogger feeding frenzy.

OK, TRY baited the hook for me with a link to twc, but he wasted his bait in my case, cos I saw his RSS feed long before one of my sporadic checks for links from other blogs. Nevertheless, I kinda like the idea, but I wanna twist it a bit. If you are hooked by finding a link to you (listed below) when you check your ShortStats, TTLB or Technorati or whatever,

  1. Go ahead and note in a post that you were hooked by your linkage check.
  2. Link here and track back to let me know you were hooked and then
  3. Make some link chum/bait of your own, hoping to hook a few for your own blogger catch of the day.

Here’s the bait I’m setting out:

Stop the ACLU

Guest Post by Kender

Our erstwhile and dearly beloved President Bush, having found one of his testicles behind the couch, FINALLY gets around to attempting to begin to consider taking the correct course of action by deploying 6000 National Guard Troops to aid ICE in securing our Southern Border in Name Only (SBNO) and the ACLU races with all haste to try to undermine the deployment by whining incessantly and lying to the American people.

“Oh-ho” you say, along with “Kender? How can you say that the ACLU is LYING to the goodly citizens of the United States?”

Here’s how, and as usual, it is attributable to The Queen of the ACLU, The Beauty of the Bill of Rights, the Nancy of the Nine Amendments (ask him, there is no Second Amendment) Anthony Romero:

“Turning immigration enforcement policy into another military operation is not the answer. The president’s proposed deployment of National Guard troops violates the spirit of the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits the military from getting into the business of civilian law enforcement.

(emphasis mine)
source
Did you catch that?

I made it real big so you would catch it, but how many of you actually caught it?

Actually the question should be how many of you even know about it?

SEC. 15. From and after the passage of this act it shall not be lawful to employ any part of the Army of the United States, as a posse comitatus, or otherwise, for the purpose of executing the laws, except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress; and no money appropriated by this act shall be used to pay any of the expenses incurred in the employment of any troops in violation of this section And any person willfully violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof shall be punished by fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars or imprisonment not exceeding two years or by both such fine and imprisonment.

Let me repeat that.

except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress;

Got that? Never mind the fact that the since the Posse Comitatus Act is an AMERICAN LAW it should logically only apply to AMERICAN CITIZENS!!!!! But applying our laws to criminal aliens is a fight that the ACLU has won….for the moment.

But we all know that where the ACLU is concerned logic has nothing to do with it.

I propose the radical concept that it is SPECIFICALLY the job of the federal government to secure the border, and if we need National Guard Troops to accomplish that goal then that is what needs to get done. If these millions of criminal aliens were coming across with guns and in uniform would the ACLU demand that Bush not send the military to stop the invasion?

I bet they would.

In WW2 the current ACLU would have been suing the government for placing anti-aircraft guns on the coast (many of those were placed on private property with the owners blessings) and demanding that blackout rules be abolished because forcing one to turn out the lights during a possible air raid would put them in danger of tripping on something in the dark, thereby depriving them of their right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Of course, the ALCU is more than happy to let someone pursue their personal happiness in the dark, often times even when it involves children, but that is a rant for another day.

The fact of the matter is that the government has failed us by refusing to secure the border, and we have been invaded. The ACLU is doing everything in their power to stop the government from doing ITS’ JOB and in the process making us all a little less safe with each and every day that goes by.

The above article was a guest post. While I agree with Kender in principle, please note one minor and one serious exception I take, below. Oh, and do note that I placed this post under multiple categories, including SEX! After all, this post does have as much to do with sex as President Bush’s immigration policy has to do with border control and national security…

The minor exception? Posse Comitatus does not apply to repelling alien invasions. The President could just as legally authorize the regular Army to patrol the border to repel an invasion… and three million illegal aliens a year does constitute an invasion! Especially when those coming from Mexico are doing so with the active encouragement and participation of the Mexican government.

But G.W. Bush, Vicente Fox’s Lapdog and the ACLU’s punching bag, won’t make that point.

Not to pick too fine a nit, Kender does begin with a false assertion, above: Vicente Fox’s Lapdog, AKA President George Bush, didn’t actually find one of his balls behind the couch; he didn’t have a microscope powerful enough and pair of tweezers small enough for the job…*sigh* Yes, I am well and truly finished with showing any respect for the person of George W. Bush, after his shameful display of dishonesty Monday evening.

Who are they?

At The People’s Cube.

Watch the video. Read the post (page down for the entire thing after watching the video).

They trekked thousands of miles in searing heat…
They crossed the border risking life and limb…
They get paid peanuts…
They do jobs others refuse to do…
Some people back in their own country treat them with little respect…
They live crammed together in substandard conditions…
They rarely see their families…
They have to learn a foreign language and culture…
They recognize only one flag…

WHO ARE THEY?

“Alex, I’ll take ‘Red Square for President’ for $2,000.”

Oh, and do see the commonsense negotiating stance on immigration/border control proposed at The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler.

h.t. Woody

A rant by any other name…

Or should I say, “A rant of a different color”?

Before I rant, a disclaimer of sorts: anyone who reads the following rant resulting from an extreme distaste for the kakistocracy that runs Mexico and its blatant aiding and abetting (and direct involvement!) in the violation of American sovereignty and accuses me of being racist is a jackass. And that’s putting it politely. Far more politely than any such accusation might deserve.

Now, a note to Vicente Fox’s Lapdog, AKA President George W.Bush:

If you had balls the size of BBs, you’d take the casus belli offered the U.S. via state-sponsored violations of American sovereignty* and shove it down Mexico’s throat: declare war on Mexico. Invade it and kick all the Mexicans out (for being illegal aliens on American property). Send ’em to Castro and Hugo Chavez to deal with. Oh, keep the ricos for use in hard labor on chain gangs, breaking rocks and swamping raw sewage to dump on their resort beaches and the like. Rape the land of its amazingly rich natural resources (oil at $15 a barrel? You betcha!), and when it’s all gone, salt the land with, well, salt, vacate and tell the former owners they can have it all back, best o’ luck to ya now! Head on back north behind a 2,000 mile long 100′ high fence that’s TOTALLY militarized.

That’d tell folks the U.S. is serious about security and serious about soverignty. State-sponsored invasion? Wanna play that game, better lay back and enjoy the ride.

Rant OFF. For now.

*On top of Mexican government policies encouraging alien invasion of the U.S., Mexican military incursions onto U.S. soil to protect drug runners and other illegal aliens_1_,_2_,_3_ are rampant. And Vicente Fox’s Lapdog talks about “cooperation” between American and Mexican authorities to control the border! Cooperation? Yeh, a one-way street. Sell out the Minutemen, turn a blind eye to Mexican military incursions and give a wink and a nod to the Mexican government publishing handbooks on how to sneak across our border.

Yeh, I’m still pi**ed off. But I’m not ranting, now. No, you’ll know it when I’m ranting…

Kixking and screaming and throwing breakables all over the place at TMH’s Bacon Bits.

The Health of the Republic

While I recommend you read the whole thing, once again Jerry Pournelle puts his finger on a critical issue concerning the health of the Republic:

The House, which is the most democratic of our institutions, apparently sees what must be done. The President, Senate, and Judiciary have their own agendas.

Republican institutions are supposed to temper the temporary whims of the democratic electorate in favor of their long term interests. We have a total reversal here. The electorate has been in favor of border control for thirty years, but we don’t have it due to the politicians.

Do note that in this case Dr. Pournelle uses “Republican institutions” to mean the institutions designed by the Founders and Framers to institute and maintain a Republic, a form of government that is sadly slipping from us at an accelerated pace, as witness the elitist disregard so many in D.C. have for maintaining it…

“Not amnesty”?

I’ve railed about President Bush’s lie declaring that allowing illegal aliens to stay and work legally isn’t amnesty. If it isn’t what is it?

Amnesty

The action of a government by which all persons or certain groups of persons who have committed a criminal offense—usually of a political nature that threatens the sovereignty of the government (such as sedition or treason)—are granted immunity from prosecution.

OK, so if President Bush’s plan is “not amnesty” are the illegal aliens going to be prosecuted for forging/or using forged documents? Tax fraud/evasion? Illegal entry? What? If it isn’t amnesty, then they will be pro=secuted under the applicable laws, and if convicted, punished under those laws. Aliens here legally, those who have followed all the rules, jumped through all the hoops and waited patiently in line to enter lawfully, are all subject to deportation for breaking our laws.

So, if those here illegally are not to suffer the consequences of their illegal actions as defined in the laws at the time they vilolated them, then what President Bush propses is amnesty.

And that again confirms that he lied through his teeth to us all Monday evening.

Saying they will “pay a meaningful penalty for breaking the law” but NOT prosecuting them under the laws they broke but instead simply placing on them the responsibilities all legal inhabitants of this land already must address, President Bush proposes… no penalty. Nada, zilch, nothing, zero-with-the-rim-kicked-off.

That’s amnesty. And President Bush, and every single person pushing that lie, knows it.

If they do not know it, then they are too stupid to walk and chew gum at the same time.
