Hmmm. . . missed my BP med yesterday (rare, nowadays, but it happens). A few hours after waking this AM, still haven’t taken my meds, and BP is 104/68 (pulse 69). THAT is VERY unusual. What?!? Did I actually sleep last night? *smh* Mirabile dictu!
I’m-a need to watch this. . .
Sidebar: signed up with Jase Medical for a year’s supply of meds (emergency stash to supplement my primary care physician’s quarterly prescription). Of course, I cheated a wee tad.
one med is prescribed at a level 2X the dosage I need (long story short: new Dr replicated previous prescription w/o noting my ongoing satisfaction with half dosage – what I had been previously instructed to try out). I’ve been doing VERY well on half dosages of that med for 3.5 years, now.
other med: I submitted an OLD prescription (pic taken from the ONE pill bottle I had left from a previous dr that had some leftover meds from before that dosage had been cut in half by the dr) that was twice the dosage level of what I’ve been on for 4 years, now.
Result: one year’s emergency stash = up to TWO year’s supply.
And both the meds have a MUCH longer real world expiration date than the ED noted by pharmaceutical company. (See the DoD Shelf-Life management Program and supportive research from 1986 through 2012 and beyond.)
104/68 is very good
Yeh, Colin, given I hadn’t taken my meds for the day, it took me a bit by surprise. How are you doing?
Something popped up that made me think of you, so checking in to see how you are. Greetings from the northeast corner of the state. I see you are still being your delightful self. Love it! I find I do well on half doses of meds or every other day. I keep a “go” bag for emergencies, need to add some things. Everything in my house has a story :-). Turned 70, still doing music with kids and teens…only old on the outside. Keep it up, my friend. And for your well-being and theirs…do not sub teach in any middle or high school English class. Someone will die 🙂
It’s been 20-*mumble* years since I let myself sub-teach, Catherine. Oh, it was a whole year’s gig with middle school kids’ music program (both “General Music” which I turned into a 6th Grade vocal choir and recorder choir – for kids not enrolled in instrumental class to explore maybe doing so and instrumental music for 6th-8th). Did well and was asked to continue but nah. School system was dysfunctional.
I could NOT teach middle school “language arts” or HS English. No. When I last did so, I was appalled, and that was more than 30 years ago.
I do hear you on the age-related stuff. But take heart: you are still a pup. *heh* Just wait til you’re my age (RealAge™ 964? ;-).
BTW, while the “official” expiration dates on my meds are three years, the DoD (and other research) says 20 or more years, if stored the way I store meds. (moderately low temps, low exposure to light)
And, I hear you re: go bags. I have an EDC that goes in the car, more extensive go-bags for my Wonder Woman and I both, and my handy-dandy lil ADC (All Day Carry) vest (that weighs in ~ 6 pounds on its lonesome) with things like a small always-carried FAK, multi-tool (larger than the one on a belt-clipped pocket lanyard), a small zipper case with a few other tools, flashlight, field notebook and two “multitool” pens, and often an emergency sandwich and even a backup emergency sandwich, as well as a few other bits-n-bobs. 😉 Zombie Apocalypse, here I come!
