“Y’all be careful out there.” That was the last line every supervisor would say at the end of roll call. It was almost the same as saying, if you get hurt you did it on your own because we warned you.
“It was almost the same as saying, if you get hurt you did it on your own because we warned you.”
And that’s exactly the way I meant it, too. 🙂
Thanks for reposting the info. I was kinda hoping folks who use facebook would pass it on.
I lifted you link and posted it to my Facebook page so others might have this information.
David, After installing AVG it made navigating the internet almost impossible. It prevented link up with most of my regular sites to the point where I said the heck with this. Once removed everything is working okay again. So much for AVG…
Interesting, TF. I’ve not experienced that. Actually, I use both the AVG Linkscanner and CA’s “Website Inspector” (which does very a similar, though not at all the same, thing by checking to verify the site linked and its security rating with CA’s rating agency) and have had only one gripe–about CA’s “Website Inspector” notifications staying on top of an app long after it’s verified a link and checked for its security rating. AVG’s Lionkscanner, OTOH, hasn’t caused any problems either on my Windows 7 computer or on my Wonder Woman’s XP (soon to be Windows 7) computer, where it’s installed as a part of AVG’s security suite.
What are the websites Linkscanner’s given you problems about? And which browser have you been using to visit these sites? (I don’t know that the last would make any real difference, but unless you’re using IE8, I’d not use IE at all, were I you. IE8 definitely “sucks less than earlier Internet Exploder versions” *heh*)
David, We use IE8 and Firefox and it bogged things down on both. We’re on XP; but as soon as I removed AVG things got back up to speed and the many URLs we tried to visit were now accessible. These included many of our regular blogs, the LDS home page, Yahoo and Fox. I figured it wasn’t worth slowing things down to dial up speed and ended the test. Oh well, we did give it a try.
Interesting, TF. Sorry it didn’t work out for you. It does give me something to look into. My Wonder Woman’s 3-year-old Toshiba Satellite is a WinXP machine and she’s been using Linkscanner as a part of AVG 8.5 anti-malware for several months. Makes me wonder what the variable(s) is(are).
