There’s probably a doctoral thesis in an exploration of the “Reality-Based” Fantasy community of wandering leftards, the Mass MEdia Podpeople Hivemind, Academia Nut Fruitcakes and assorted fellow travelers to discover the points–if any–where its world view has some (accidental?) connection to real reality…

Would never happen. Most people working on doctoral theses wouldn’t be able to comprehend that that topic could even exist.
Yeh, our two children have degrees in “-ologies” (and, well, one of my mostly useless degrees is in a related “-ology”) in fields that are overrun by folks who had their lobotomies performed before being allowed into the field, so I know my proposal was just cockeyed optimism… *heh*
