50++ years on, I still get reminders–more and more often of late, as bones age–of the first lesson of horses:
Watch your feet.

I actually dream about horses, and one constant in the dream is my awareness of where my feet are in relation to the horse(s). Oh, it’s just a tiny part, but it’s always there. 🙂
