I know a lot of folks for whom the statement, “I am a sinner” would not be at all offensive, and even viewed by some as a laudable admission, but who would find the statement, “I am an asshole” to be extremely offensive.
Frankly, I don’t get it.

I am reminded on a regular basis that I am a sinner, even though I believe my sins are forgiven by God. On occasion when I reflect on my sins I realize in some small way just how horrible those sins really were and are and I am amazed by God’s grace.
Neither statement offends me. They’re both true. I look forward to the day when at last neither will be.
