Sums it up nicely.

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Poor “Mother Earth” Just Can’t Catch a Break…

Treehuggers may doom the environment:

Will Vegetarian Humans One Day ‘Emit’ More Carbon Dioxide & Methane Than Cows?

In a suppositional 2060,

“…the relative significance of direct human flatulence to the total carbon dioxide and methane loads was shown to have increased dramatically by a massive human shift to a highly legume- and cabbage-dependent diet. More vegetarian farts, in other words.”

At least folks’d have the wherewithall to perform CPR w/o having to get up close and personal with a stranger’s lips… well, in one sense at least. (OK, I’m linking the video, but I’m not posting it here. *heh*)

This video, OTOH, just begs to be posted with this topic:

(Of course, this all presupposes that CO2 is “bad” for the environment. Plants don’t seem to think so, though, and even if it were to cause “global warming” it’d just extend growing seasons, etc. Methane? Yeh, well, we could bottle that… )

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggetty-Jig

There and back again between early a.m. and now. About 100 miles round trip–not far, but… COLD. Was 0 deg F when I left; 6 when I returned. Car never warmed above “You HAVE to be kidding me!” Lil car did NOT like. Heater? Notsomuch. Next thing to “Notatall.” Beat the outside temps by juuuust about nuthin’. Patchy ice on 2-lane roads (still!); snowing and blowing–though not snowing hard. Crisp–brittle!–light stabbing deep into brain past sunglasses when snow let up. Gloves worked for hands, but feet were blocks of ice when I got “there” and again when I returned. Just now getting feeling back in toes. Seriously.

Not bad. Pretty typical January around the Ozarks, though maybe about 10 deg F cooler than usual for this time of year.

Algore musta been giving a speech on “Anthropogenic Global Warming” somewhere near here.

Sidebar: what in the heck is that lil town in a county as sparsely populated as America’s Third world County (well, except for the “Vegas of the Ozarks” about 30 more miles down the road) doing with a McDonalds, a Taco Bell and a KFC?!? Who’dathunkit? Cheap (and very nearly drinkable) cuppa joe at the Mickey D’s, though. (What can I say? It was hot.)

The Real Source of Anthropogenic “Global Warming”

Liars’ pants on fire. From the UK Times Online, this

” …the scientific basis for global warming projections is now under scrutiny as never before. The principal source of these projections is produced by a small group of scientists at the Climatic Research Unit (CRU), affiliated to the University of East Anglia.

“Last week an apparent hacker obtained access to their computers and published in the blogosphere part of their internal e-mail traffic. And the CRU has conceded that the at least some of the published e-mails are genuine.

“Astonishingly, what appears, at least at first blush, to have emerged is that (a) the scientists have been manipulating the raw temperature figures to show a relentlessly rising global warming trend; (b) they have consistently refused outsiders access to the raw data; (c) the scientists have been trying to avoid freedom of information requests; and (d) they have been discussing ways to prevent papers by dissenting scientists being published in learned journals.”

This has been an “open secret” for years. No news here, folks. Move along. Of course, the usual suspects are circling the wagons (and setting fire to their pants). It should be interesting watching this all shake out. Not in the Mass MEdia Podpeople Hivemind, of course. That organ of lies, half lies and distorted facts will back up the CRU all the way, I’m sure.

And, Update: This in from one of the Great Minds of the 21st Century:

*heh*

Isn’t it telling when Homer Simpson has better insight into the issue than our own congresscritters and Mass MEdia Podpeople?

“Crap n Trade” Madness

[Senator from Taxachussetts, Jean Fraud s]KERRY: IF YOU ENJOYED THIS YEAR’S RECESSION, JUST WAIT FOR CAP AND TRADE

“Let me emphasize something very strongly as we begin this discussion. The United States has already this year alone achieved a 6 percent reduction in emissions simply because of the downturn in the economy, so we are effectively saying we need …to go another 14 percent.”–Fumduck Senator from Taxachussetts, Jean Fraud sKerry

This scumbag doesn’t care who his desired policies would harm. He just wants to be on the idiotic “CO2 is bad” bandwagon. Fine, Jean Fraud. Let’s ban idiot politicians from emitting CO2. Just stop breathing, bub. That’d do the trick. Idiot.

So, not only do we have a Presidential Pretender in Training Wheels going around telling everyone it’s all America’s fault, now we also have a Once Presidential Wannabe idiot telling us we need to pay for his and his co-conspirators’ delusions, as well.

The Dimming of America

Even though the amazingly insensitive-to-meaning vocalizations of the narrator grate on my ears, this short, fluffy 2-minute piece still manages to retain the power of a truth: the price of the Anthropogenic Global Warming Myth is too high.

Global Warming… Notsomuch

It’s a nice Fall day on September 3rd here in America’s Third World County.

*huh*? Fall? Doesn’t that come later? (Yeh, September 22/23 [Astronomical] or September 30 [Meteorological])

Well, the sycamore stands in our back yard seem to think so as they are shedding leaves. The 60-something degree temps outside seem to agree, and since the weather forecast is for cool weather and rain for the next week, I guess I might be forgiven for thinking it’s an early Fall, even though Persephone might not yet be packing her bags for her annual trip to Hades quite yet.

I do kinda hope this doesn’t mean we’ll be in for another ice storm like we had in January of ’07, even though that was the result of a cold snap that also flew in the face of the doctrines of the Church of Anthropogenic Global Warming/Changism.

Oh, well. A couple of weeks without power weren’t all that bad, really. Dig out the ole campstove, candles and flashlights and LOTS of sleep if it happens again. 🙂 Still, even if it does, perhaps the power company’s learned its lesson. I do see that power lines are much freer of overhanging branches than they were in ’07… (‘Cos even the electric company doesn’t think the Church of Anthropogenic Global Warming/Changism is full of anything but pure B.S.)
