Quick Cocoa

1/2C Cream
1/2C 2% milk
1 heaping tablespoon of evaporated condensed milk
2Tbs sucralose
1/4Tsp vanilla extract
1 heaping tablespoon unsweetened cocoa.

Heat the liquids by your fav method.

Combine everything in a blender. Serves 1, so make double if you are making some for yourself in the presence of a Significant Other. Or else. *heh*

Yum.

Just the thing on a “snowed in day”.

Meanwhile, a pot of beef stew is cooking away in the Wolfgang Puck Rice Cooker and a pot of chili’s makin’ on the stove. Whatever comes, we’ll have plenty of fare to face being snowed in or power outaged. Or both.

    1. Hey, Perri, at least I used sucralose! *heh*

(In defense of my cream/milk concoction, I had spent quite a bit of time out in “teens degree” weather shoveling, etc. I figured I was due some luxury.)

Oh, I forgot that I added a pinch of freshly-grated cinnamon to each cup. Just a pinch, but it provided some more high notes in addition to the high notes from the vanilla.

  1. After what I saw in the office today, I’ll take your cocoa recipe happily.

Imagine making a cafe mocha this way…
    1.Take a paper cup.
    2. Empty a package of swiss miss powdered hot chocolate into it.
    3. Pour half-burnt canister coffee from the giant urns into it,
    4. Stir with a stick.
    5. “enjoy”.

I’d much rather use fresh chocolate syrup and freshly ground coffee with steaming hot water pressed through it, and either whole milk, or better yet half and half.

    1. I’d sub in unsweetened cocoa powder and sweeten to taste, but otherwise, I’m all in on your recipe.

Oh, and I use my own mix of “half and half” only because I don’t like to run short of (real) cream for my coffee. πŸ™‚ (And REAL butter makes my quinoa porridge or grits go down MUCH better than margarine or some other such crap. But that’s another topic. :-))

    1. Evaporated condensed milk isn’t all that liquid. It’s almost a semi-solid, more like a loose taffy in consistency. “Heaping” is about all one can do, as it’s darned near impossible to measure out a level anything of the stuff. πŸ™‚
