Words I Wish “Feddle Gummint” Officials Lived By

All of ’em have to take this oath, but few, it seems, mean anything by it when they do.

I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

  1. The problem with that oath is that it doesn’t say “unadulterated” before or “(as actually written)” after “Constitution.” That means as long as they are upholding what they can convince people is in the Constitution, they are covered.

  2. Not in my book, Nicole. As far as I’m concerned most (all but perhaps 2 or 3) congresscritters and most bureaucraps are UNcovered (as in completely nude as regards being under the cover of the Constitution). They should all be arrested for–at least–indecent exposure… ๐Ÿ˜‰
