“The time has come to set aside childish things”

So intoned The One yesterday. To paraphrase the wisdom of Inego Montoya, “I do not think those words mean what you think they mean,” Mr. Obama. After all, isn’t this man, photographed at your inauguration yesterday, your carefully chosen chief of staff?

rahm-emanuel-raspberry

Is this a serious administration or what?

What.

Merely invoking a (paraphrase of a) small portion of 1Corinthians 13:11 solely as a rhetorical device, absent even a bare nod toward its substance, doesn’t bode well for this administration’s honesty or its seriousness, now does it?

But from his history, you were expecting anything else? “Sound and fury, signifying nothing” might be a better analysis of The One’s inauguration speech yesterday than any I’ve read/heard from the orifices of Mass Media Podpeople.

  1. Is that a picture of his chief of staff or of the new White House website?

You’d think “that one” was still campaigning from reading the website. The childish attacks on President Bush are totally classless.

  2. Campaigning is ALL The One knows. He’s never worked in a government position before, just run for and held them. Again, what MacBeth despairingly said of life is the sum of The One: Sound and fury, signifying nothing. Well, perhaps childish, disingenuous, insincere sound and fury…

  3. Hypocrisy is a specialty of the left. They’ve made it into an art form. This is only the most obvious example from the innauguration.

I think you could make an entire website out of the hypocrisy on display at just that one event. Fleets of private jets flying eco-friendly voters in? Check. Huge crowds creating a huge amount of litter? Check. Post-racial candidate’s benediction goads “white” to “embrace what is right”? Check.

It goes on and on… but nobody cares and the media will not report on it.

    C’est la vie!

  4. When I saw that photograph for the first time, I thought, ‘this is what we have to look forward to for 4 years?’ And the speech yesterday got to me, and I had to get up and leave before he finished. I could not take the underhanded way he was talking about Bush and his administration. Before he downs Bush, he should make sure he’s going to do a better job! And I sure don’t expect it to happen! The CHANGE is not in the works for this presidency! That was just a word used to get him elected!
