Maker v. Taker: Little Things

Throughout my life, I have made a net contribution to my community, I think.

Two fine adult children who are productive workers

Some students who actually learned things still important to them–from their own reports–a couple of decades and more later.

Community dramas and musicals directed, written, produced, acted in, sung/played in, or even financed (partially or in whole)–or all the above in different measures and combinations (one, actually all the above, due to some very weird circumstances).

Good cheer and encouragement to those who need it or who have earned approbation and raspberries and concerted combat (verbal, political) to those who have earned disapprobation.

Put my 40+-year-old WSI (water safety instructor) training to good use, resulting in one case in the first cardiac arrest case the local ambulance service responded to that survived complete cardiac arrest. (Take a CPR course. You never know when you’ll need it.)

Given fair service in other work I’ve done throughout my life, value for value. Donated what goods and services I could to worthy needy folks whenever I have had opportunity (no, I don’t “help out” moochers, leeches and slugs, but that’s another thing I do for the good of the community).

Now, these are all just a few of the meager societal contributions I feel qualify me to be labeled–just barely–a “Maker” instead of a “Taker”. *shrugs* Of course, unless I were either a complete dependent of The State or someone The State could gain greatly from by robbing me blind, people like Odumbo wouldn’t view me as having any real worth at all, except as someone to tyrannize.
